Set Smart Goals Your Blog!

To continue Organization April, I am going to talk about setting goals for your blog.

There are three types of goals: immediate, intermediate, and long-range. You have to start with immediate and work your way up from there.
Goals can be anything! Want to make new friends, go on a vacation, or join a new class, or get an A on that next test? They can be as big or as small as you want, and it is good to have a mix of goals.

Once you set goals decide what steps you are going to take to get them accomplished. Also be sure to give yourself a time frame for all of them. Do you want to get 50 new followers? Don't just say it, give yourself until June to do it! Here are 5 things to keep in mind when setting a goal:
S Specific
M Measurable
A Attainable
R Relevant
Time-bound

Obviously, the main reason I am writing this post is because everyone should have goals for blogging.  But I don't just mean get to X followers by X day. While that is great to have, you need to make them realistic. If you only have 100 followers now, most likely you won't be at 1000 by next week. Set short goals such as 3 new followers per day or get to more page views. If you only get 1 new follower on a day, that means the next day you should try to get five to work your way to your bigger goals.

So for me, one of my goals at the moment is to get my blog name out to 50 new people per week. That could mean introducing myself over twitter, commenting on other blogs, or directly emailing people. If I slack one week and don't do very many, the next week I try to make it up because I want people to know about my blog! Of course you can also set goals such as updating your buttons or deleting all your broken links by a certain day. Just don't tell yourself you can do a major update in one weekend!

Do you set goals for yourself? If so, tell me in the comments what goals you have!

Such a great post Scarlett! You really gave me the drive to get back to trying to post regularly and continue on trying to grow my blog! Its such a fun process, but sometimes I feel like its hard to keep up trying to find inspiration. This post really helped me prioritize and set reasonable goals for my blog!
    Thanks again!
