The "F" Word

There is one word that many people do not like talking about. They are scared of it and avoid it at all costs. But today, we need to discuss it.

FAILURE

I am so tired of hearing people say that they haven't done this or that because they are too afraid of failing. People are too scared to step out of their comfort zones and try something new because there is a possibility they might fail. This is what I have to say when I hear that:

 Great quote!
Really. Just try!

When it comes to blogging, I like to shoot high. I would rather get a rejection from someone than sit around wondering what would have happened if I had tried. When I get a rejection, it just motivates me even more to prove them wrong and better myself. I always try to ask them what I can do to get the job in the future or to meet their standards. Then I keep that in mind as I am working and I specifically will try to improve in those areas.

prove them wrong
"I used to be afraid of failing at something that really mattered to me, but now I'm more afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter." -Bob Goff

Even in school, sometimes you will fail something. At times it is obvious why you failed and other times you might not really understand. It is important to talk to the teacher or professor and ask them what you can do better in the future. Failure can seem bad in the moment, but ultimately if you take the right steps and ask the right questions, it can be a good thing.

No matter you are or what path you are taking in life, you are guaranteed to fail at some point. I am currently reading the book Love Does by Bob Goff. I cannot recommend it enough as each chapter shares a new life lesson. At one part, the author writes about failure:

"The thing I love about God is He intentionally guides people into failure. He made us be born as little kids who can't walk or talk or even use the bathroom correctly. We have to be taught everything. All that learning takes time, and He made us so we are dependent on Him, our parents, and each other. The whole thing is designed so we try again and again until we finally get it right. And the whole time He is endlessly patient."

There are secret opportunities hidden inside every failure (design by The Crafted Life)

Even if you failed something bigger than a test in school or a rejection letter, it is all part of God's plan. Whenever He closes one door, He always has a better one waiting to open. Things that go wrong can either shape you or scar you. Why not let it shape you and move on instead of dwelling on past failures?

Has a fear of failing ever kept you from doing something?
